In Asia, Chinese diet pills are becoming notoriously dangerous. Seven women in the past few years in China, Japan, and Singapore have lost their lives from taking dangerous Chinese diet aids. The problem is becoming much more pervasive.

Recently, Japan had a near diet pill plague. There were 600 reported illnesses associated with numerous kinds of Chinese diet pills. Many illnesses included severe liver damage, which is generally life threatening.

So exactly which Chinese diet pills are health hazards? Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing due to lack of proper labeling and manufacturing guidelines. The problem with these pills is extensive and starts from the moment they are manufactured.

The manufacturing process in China for these supplements is poorly supervised. Diet pills in China are considered “health foods” instead of pharmaceutical products. Therefore, the product development and manufacturing process is under loose regulation and does not require any form of safety tests. Without strict guidelines Chinese diet aids are easily being laced with harmful ingredients and sold to the public.

Another big problem with Chinese diet pills is the packaging and product label. Often, the labeling neglects full supplement facts, proper use guidelines, and potential side effects. Without full disclosure, people are consuming these diet pills without knowing the risks.

In a study concerning fifteen different Chinese diet pills conducted by the University of Hong Kong, only one product disclosed potential long-term effects. Clearly, people are unknowingly risking their health and lives.

Korea has actually banned at least 24 different Chinese diet pills. However, banning products is a hardly effective enough to stop the fire. In such a big industry, companies easily replace Chinese diet pills with a “new” version.

The only way to ensure safety is to alter the manufacturing process and labeling requirements. Until then, the best Chinese diet pill to choose is none.
