Cissus quadrangularis has been traditionally prescribed as a general tonic and analgesic from ancient Ayurvedic medicine. Cissus quadrangularis is a variety of the grape vine and is traditionally found in Sri Lanka and India as well as in parts of Ceylon. This plant has been used to promote the healing of bone fractures by acting as a glucocorticoid antagonist and has more recently been used for its anabolic muscle building properties. Such properties can be beneficial to athletes and muscle building.

Cissus quadrangularis can increase the rate of bone healing in aging persons who suffer from chronic diseases as well as promote health in serious athletes. All forms of exercise put pressure on bone and joints, regardless of type, including running, lifting weights, jumping, or participating in other types of exercise. Over time bones and joints eventually wear down and become thin. Athletes and bodybuilders suffer a higher rate of bone loss and joint pain than any other group of people.

By using a bone healing agent such as cissus quadrangularis, athletes can prevent damage to the bones and joints as well as preventing premature joint pain, bone loss, and future exercise related osteoarthritis. Cissus quadrangularis is also known to prevent other chronic diseases that are specifically related to stress and pressure on the muscles. All these benefits have been clinically proven to be effective.

In clinical trials, cissus quadrangularis has been shown to promote accelerated bone healing rates. One study showed that cissus quadrangularis’ prevention abilities towards bone loss and osteoarthritis in postmenopausal women, while another clinical study specifically assessed the healing of fractures in athletes, children, and adults.
Cissus quadrangularis also has been used for its analgesic properties. Cissus quadrangularis reduces inflammation, and it is considered to be comparable to aspirin or other common anti-inflammatory drugs. It provides immediate pain relief, alleviates pressure on the joints, facilitates safe and natural results, and promotes more efficient exercise without sore and achy joints.

Cissus quadrangularis also produces powerful anabolic effects by increasing the natural production of testosterone, increasing energy, improving muscle tone, and speeding metabolism to burn more fat. By producing powerful anabolic effects, cissus quadrangularis maximizes and multiplies the effectiveness of any workout plan. When used properly cissus quadrangularis is capable of providing many benefits essential to healthy athletic performance in both men and women.
