Hyrdroxycut is product sub-brand of MuscleTech. For a long, time they were one of the top names among health supplements and weight loss products. But after the ephedra ban in 2004 and the FDA warning against them a few years later, Hydroxycut has struggled to return to the prominence they once enjoyed. However, they are still busy churning out products. Despite not being what they used to, Hydroxycut has several different product lines and enjoys marginal success. So are they due for a revival? Are their products worth looking into? To answer these questions for our readers we thought we take a more in depth look into Hydroxycut.

Ingredients & How Hydroxycut Works

Hydroxycut does come with some good ingedients. It’s Glucomannan content has been shown to delay gastric emptying which means the food you eat stays in your body longer. These means you can feel fuller for longer stretches of time. Hydroxycut also contains fat burners like Caffeine Anhydrous, Green Tea, and Garcinia Cambogia. These thermongenics have been proven to accelerate the metabolism to the point where it begins to melt away fat easily and rapidly. Besides these, components, Hydroxycut kind of has its fair share of fillers. Ingredients like calcium and potassium are nice but aren’t what someone would need for weight loss.

Is Hydroxycut Effective?

Like we mentioned above, Hydroxycut does have some good ingredients. The problem is the ingredients aren’t included in clinically proven amounts. For the best results, Caffeine Anhydrous and Green Tea should be seen in amounts of at least 400mg. Glucomannan needs 1000mg and Garcinia Cambogia needs 1500mg to be effective as well. Most Hydroxycut formulas aren’t formulated with more that 600mg overall.

Is Hydroxycut Safe?

Even after removing ephedra from its blend after the ban of 2004, Hydroxycut has been still been tied to several health problems. In May of 2009 the FDA itself warned consumers to avoid using Hydroxycut products since they had been tied to 23 reports of serious health problems and at least one fatality. Most of these were cases of liver damage.

Conclusion

Though we don’t mean to be rude, we don’t recommend using Hydroxycut. It has a few too many fillers and even its main ingredients have been found lacking. If they could weed out a few unnecessary contents while upping the dosages in their key ingredients, Hydroxycut would be a fabulous product. But things the way they are, we have to say that you’d be better off trying something else.
