Legal Gear Sciences has made its fair share of testosterone boosters. They keep rolling out with new ones because their old ones keep getting banned or discontinued. One product they no longer make is Methyl 1-D. This product was designed to provide the body with hormonal precursors that were one or two metabolic steps away from being converted into testosterone. Higher levels of testosterone can help bodybuilders experience more dramatic gains in muscle mass and strength but could Methyl 1-D really deliver these benefits?

Ingredients

Methyl 1-D contained several prohormone ingredients. They included 3-beta-hydroxyetioallocholan-5-ene-17-one, 3-beta-hydroxy-urs-12-en-28-oic acid, and 3-beta-hydroxyetioallocholan-17-one. Strangely enough, none of these contain strands of methyl which does not live up to the product’s name. Methyl has been shown to be effective to promote muscle growth but it can cause liver damage. Perhaps its better that they don’t use it but it seems dishonest to name their product after an ingredient they don’t use.

All the prohormones in this formula do however contain etioallcholan. With this chemical component, they are supposed to provide the body with materials that make it easier to build androstenedione, a precursor to testosterone. LG Sciences claimed that these compounds were anti-estrogenic but no research we have seen verifies this. In fact, we have seen some studies that show these compounds could increase the rate of estrogen production since both androstenedione and testosterone can be easily converted into estrogen metabolites. Increased estrogen levels can lead to man boobs, oil skin, and water retention.

Conclusion

In the end, Methyl 1-D probably raised estrogen levels more than testosterone. This made it necessary to stack with an aromatase inhibitor. But even when combined with estrogen limiting supplements, Methyl 1-D still probably didn’t yield that many benefits. The prohormones it uses just aren’t as potent as other anabolic compounds we’ve seen used. Methyl 1-D did contain some decent ingredients in its metabolism formula but they weren’t enough to justify buying it. Even if you could find Methyl 1-D in stock somewhere, we recommend finding something else.
