When we see pre-workout supplements that offer you astronomical numbers like 1,250% more Nitric Oxide, we can’t help but raise our eyebrows and doubt their math.

Not only is it almost impossible to increase your levels of Nitric Oxide by that much in your body, you also probably wouldn’t want to. Just like you wouldn’t want increase your levels of oxygen that much either, sometimes you really can have too much of a good thing.

But rather than discount NO2 Red on account of a few exaggerated statistics, we thought we would take a closer look at this pre-workout supplement to see if it could really offer phenomenal Nitiric Oxide levels.

What Does NO2 Red Do?

The main goal of MRI’s newest pre-workout supplement, NO2 Red, is to boost the amount of Nitric Oxide you have in your blood stream, thereby causing vasodilation and the increase of blood that is able to flow through your veins.

With more blood flowing more easily from your heart to your muscles, you could ensure that your muscles have a better supply of oxygen and energy, thus increasing your ability to workout harder and for longer amounts of time.

However, it is also very difficult to increase these levels, and only a few ingredients have actually been proven to boost Nitric Oxide content in the body.

Does NO2 Red Work?

After looking at the ingredients in NO2 Red, we found that, like so many other supplements, NO2 Red uses the amino acid Arginine in large amounts to attempt to boost NO levels.

Even though Arginine was once thought to increase vasodilation by being a precursor to Nitric Oxide, recent research has revealed that this is not the case.

In fact, a study was conducted on patients that had just suffered a heart attack to see whether Arginine could help them recover faster and put less pressure on their hearts.

Tragically, instead of Arginine helping these patients, those who were taking this amino acid not only stopped recovering but six of them died. Because of this terrible turn of events, Arginine was discontinued and never used to increase vasodilation medically again.

Our Opinion:

Even if you’re not a recovering heart attack patient, we don’t think Arginine is the best choice and we think if NO2 Red includes it as its main ingredient, there are many better pre-workout supplements for you out there.
