Have you ever been walking down the aisles of your local WalMart and ran into football legend Brett Favre or UFC’s Mark Coleman?

Neither have we. That’s why when we saw that Pre-Workout Ignition claims to be only for elite athletes, yet it is sold for a “deal so good it’ll shock you” at your local WalMart, we were definitely skeptical about this pre-workout supplement.

Background

Pre-Workout Ignition is manufactured and marketed by Six Star Nutrition to help you increase your levels of Nitric Oxide and help your body produce more of its own ATP.

Nitric Oxide is a compound that is found naturally in the body and has the curious side effect of causing vasodilation in the body. This means that your blood vessels are widened and more blood is able to move through easier.

With more blood flow, you are able to deliver more oxygen and nutrients to your muscles while you’re working out. This will not only increase your stamina, but it will allow you to have more explosive energy.

Speaking of explosive energy, ATP, or adenosine triphosphate is the main chemical that your muscles use for energy. By increasing your body’s production of ATP, you could increase the amount of energy available to your muscles during a workout.

Ingredients

Although Six Star Nutrition promises that Pre-Workout Ignition will help you increase your levels of Nitric Oxide, as well as ATP, we didn’t see anything on its ingredient list that looked like Pre-Workout Ignition was able of doing either of those things.

What we did see, however, were a handful of amino acids, Beta-Alanine, L-Arginine and L-Carnosine which were more likely to get damaged by the acids in the stomach and be rendered useless than improve your workout.

We also saw Schisandra Extract, which at first, we have to admit was a bit of a mystery to us. Having never seen it in a workout supplement before, we decided to do a little research and we found that it is a vine used for medicinal healing in China.

Our Opinion

Unfortunately, Schisandra Extract is only used to heal chronic, viral hepatitis and will most likely have no effect whatsoever on your workout. Because Pre-Workout Ignition seems to have such an ineffective list of ingredients, we can’t recommend this product.
