USPLabs Modern BCAA is a product that bases itself almost exclusively on the power of the branched chain amino acids Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine. Mixed in an 8:1:1 ratio, respectively, USPLabs Modern BCAA is equipped to not only trigger protein synthesis, but to also help initiate mTOR, an less commonly known anabolic pathway inside the body. Not many supplements we’ve seen have offered mTOR activation. We were intrigued to learn more.
Is USPLabs Modern BCAA Effective?
mTOR is a process in the body that helps increase the body’s production and size of muscle cells. Supposedly, USPLabs Modern BCAA’s 8:1:1 ratio of amino acids is meant to help trigger this function. But from the research we found, USPLabs Modern BCAA doesn’t necessarily provide mTOR any better than other products with the same amino acids. In fact, BCAAs are not hard to come by at all. You can find them in a wide array of products and they are usually inexpensive. Basing a whole product on just these ingredients won’t help a supplement stand out.
Is USPLabs Modern BCAA Safe?
Some amino acids have been no known to cause some harmful side effects if taken in extreme excess. If you stay within the recommended dosages, you’ll be fine.
Final Conclusion
Even if USPLabs Modern BCAA does spark mTOR and protein synthesis, it doesn’t do enough for its price. Every container costs $27. There are supplements that contain all the amino acids and more for prices that aren’t much higher. BCAA’s are necessary for muscle growth but you won’t get the best effects from them without help from ingredients like creatine, protein, or L-arginine. We recommend buying a product that contains more of these types of components.
